Young Business Men & Woman

The most dynamic business people are those who are starting their own business for the first time. They have innovative and daring ideas and believe that the world is a safe place for young entrepreneurs!

They have dreams of the world waiting with baited breath for their latest million dollar idea. They believe that their journey will be short, sweet and simple. They laugh at older people that are still struggling to get by.

They are full of optimism and hope to realize their ambitions in record time not realising that their lack of serious business knowledge and their high sex drive is waiting for them like a trap that a hunter has set!

As they get older, most become cautious and their respect for people that are already successful grows… as they start to realize the sheer effort and true grit that is involved in making a new business fly.

Most serious (or should it be serial?) entrepreneurs generally start making a serious income in their late thirties and early forties. Prior to this they have been at "school" trying to figure out what works and getting shrewder, sharper and wiser by the minute.

Finally, if they have not become cynical, they learn to be humble and knuckle down to some hard work. If they have persevered and not let their business goals die in this shark infested world of business, they are now ready to make inroads into their desires and goals.

The best advice I can give to anybody starting up for the first time is to find one or more successful business mentors that you can trust completely. Make sure that if you ask for their advice then you follow it!

A normal man learns from his experiences, a bright man learns from other people's experiences and a clever man will seek the relevant advice from properly qualified people and take a short cut!

Water - The 21st. Century Business!

We just can’t live without! But can we live with what we have?
With water quality at an all time low – the needs are great for a simple, effective solution for improved drinking water. With a general increase in awareness of health requirements and an immense demand for simple answers – the providers of this solution are set to become the next millionaires.

Prick up your ears because ‘The Wellness Revolution’ is here and, by all predictions, is set to become the next trillion dollar industry. You can see it everywhere, emerging as people wake from their state of slumber to regain their health and vitality after years of lethargy.

The ‘Baby Boomers’ have set the pace and are demanding a better, healthier, safer way to remain fit and live longer in a world of increased uncertainties and deepening toxicity.

We live in what has been described as a ‘toxic soup’ where our bodies are in a constant struggle to maintain health and stability. Chronic degenerative disease is becoming all too common and immune system problems are now the norm. People have had enough and are demanding better. So where do we start and where are the niches that aren’t being filled?

As a health consultant and entrepreneur, I have seen many fads and gimmicks come and go. The quick fix, the new diet, the amazing supplement –all offering much and supplying little. People are sick and tired of being sick and tired AND 'being taken to the cleaners’ with promises of ‘the perfect answer’.

Where it all starts and ends is with our water! Water is the basis of life, from which all life came and through which all life evolves. It is our essence and is 75% of our being. Without it we DIE fairly rapidly! Without ‘quality’ water, we die a little less rapidly. Water is the answer to many health issues and can return a person back to good health very rapidly.

Relying on the water from our taps is not the answer – the quality of this water has become so poor that in some cities plants actually wither and die when fed with it. Bottled water is also not the answer as this is now often sourced from areas of extreme toxicity and pollution.

Health and sports professionals have known this for years and have been striving to find a source of ‘quality’ water, full of essential nutrients, inexpensive and available to all. A water that will cleanse and feed us, enrich us with nutrition, de-acidify our toxic bodies and create healthier individuals.

Finally, the 21st Century is well upon us and new discoveries are being uncovered at an ever-increasing rate. Top research laboratories are providing the facts and supplying the evidence for all to see.

As with many ‘new’ discoveries, it is often a re-working and enhancing of a very old idea that produces a ‘super-product’, one that can change the lives of millions and bring wealth to the news-bringers.

For water, the time is NOW, the secrets have been cracked and the message is being released. Millions and millions of people are set to benefit from its properties as they are given back a means of improving their water simply and effectively.

For those ready to share this news with others – the rewards will be huge as the word spreads and the demand explodes.

The time is NOW, the new millionaires are waiting in the wings – ‘WATER’ is the word AND the answer. Be there at the beginning of something immense, something global and prosperity will follow. Are you ready to lead the way?

Yahoo! Podcasts - Why It Matters to Your Business

What's in it for you?

Podcasting is obviously all the rage nowadays. According to I ISP Interland's Summer 2005 Small and Medium-sized Business Barometer, 11% of small business leaders are interested in using podcasting as part of their website features.

A forecast based on the data on sales of portable digital music players and high-speed Internet penetration by The Diffusion Group released in June 2005 showed that demand for podcasts is expected to reach as much as 60 million users by the end of the decade.

Another interesting fact probably worth mentioning is the release of iTunes 4.9 in June 2005, which integrated podcasting for the first time into the music player used by close to 40 million consumers.

Only two days after the release, podcast subscription reached a number probably none of us would believe before: one million. Many podcasts received free exposure and got surge of subscribers at that time.

As Yahoo! Podcasts entered the market, this event might very well happen again the second time. I am not a psychic but if you can tap into this publishing medium and be one of the first to immediately get exposure to millions of people searching for very specific content they are interested in, I know only good things will happen to your business. I hope you agree with me.

Why it matters to your business

iTunes Podcast Directory offers more than 15,000 podcasts and growing quite rapidly at 1,000 a week according to Steve Job, the CEO of Apple Computer. That is just one directory. This may seem like a lot at the first glance but really it doesn't even scratch the surface when compared to how many websites are currently available on the Web.

With more than 6 million podcast consumers have already listened to podcast in April 2005, there sure are a lot of room to play. If you want a proof, just browse on any popular podcast directory and see how many of them only have a handful items, even on a relatively popular topics.

But really, "Why does it matter to my business?" Well, for the first time there is a way to reach your audience of customers through the use of voice. It's much like your own radio show but listeners can tune in any time they want to.

The power to be able to express emotion and bring personality to your marketing communication can be very powerful. From public relation, customer relationship management, name branding, to generating leads and sales, all can be done through the same medium, but more powerful than the traditional text based communication. Imagine these benefits and the ability to get your podcast in front of millions of Yahoo! Podcasts visitors for free.

How to participate

You can use existing computer equipment to record your voice or anything audible. Really, podcasting is not limited to talk show but can be in the format of music samples, audio books, and more. A microphone that comes with your computer can do it, but a decent one makes you sound professional.

If you need to edit and mix the sound before publishing, some audio editing tools are available for free. To make a podcast file accessible, you need to upload the audio file to a public web server. In the future we may have alternative distribution methods but for now serving it through a public web server is the most common one.

When it's time to publish your podcast, you can use the existing blog software to build a podcast website for the podcast show. Using a blog platform allows you to manage content easier. Most of them can generate a valid podcast feed to for you. It's such a nice feature, but not compulsory.

An RSS feed carries the podcast audio metadata and syndicate it to the mass. Existing technologies even make the whole process of creating and publishing the feed almost seamless.

Once you have a podcast ready, all you needed to get listed is to enter the URL to your podcast feed at the Yahoo! Podcasts Publishing page (http://podcasts.yahoo.com/publish). You can even tag it so that others can find your podcast easier.

When to start

While the use of podcasting has gained a significant boost lately, it is not for every market yet. Some industries are better serve through other channels. Yet others mostly consist of users who connected with slower Internet connection where regular audio downloads may be more difficult and longer, or simply are not that technical savvy.

You know your market better than me, but you can't never be sure until you test it. The technologies are here, allowing you to start on a shoestring. You may even stop if this is not for you and continue after your market is ready. Whatever it is, just make sure you don't miss the opportunity.

If you decide that podcasting is for you, there are dozens of free resources you can use to start immediately. The sooner you start the better. Your audience may have been waiting for your podcast and if by the time they can't find yours, obviously you'll be missing not only targeted traffic from one of the search engine giants but also prospective customers.

The "Greed Bug" vs. Reliability In Business

Have you ever joined a company or some kind of money-making opportunity thinking that, it was the best thing you’d seen since sliced bread? Then you go to work, spend money on advertising, or telling your friends about this wonderful deal. Maybe you even stayed with this opportunity long enough to make a small bonus check....then, wham! All of a sudden this golden opportunity is gone...completely fizzled...washed down the drain.

What happened?

You probably got bit by something that most of us have experienced at some point in our lives! The greed bug!

Now, I suppose that the greed bug could be described in various ways. At its worse, it can be a completely selfish little creature, just desiring to get ahead for itself and to heck with anyone else. If they lose out, well, that’s just too bad. Tough luck!

But I really think this greed bug usually manifests itself in less incriminating traits, traits that are not necessarily selfish in nature. However, the greed bug traits may be responsible for numerous
failures in business!

TRAITS OF THE GREED BUG

1. Wanting to believe this will “work.”

2. Jumping in too fast without doing adequate homework. HOMEWORK should include such things as finding out how long the company has been in business, making sure the products are worthwhile & not grossly overpriced, plus having a reliable business plan or plan of success.

3. Giving up too quickly when the money doesn’t come rolling in.

4. Not having the patience to learn the things necessary for success.

Now, as I look at this, most of us, at least in the older generations, grew up with a principle of honesty. If someone told us something, we actually believed them. A person’s word truly was as “good as gold.” Unfortunately, these days, with the internet, it really is hard to tell the truth from fiction. Just because somebody makes a claim about something, doesn’t necessarily make it true.

HOW TO FIND OUT IF ITS HYPE OR IF ITS TRUE

1. Having a long-term association with the person or people inviting you to join them is desirable.

2. Knowing how long the company has been in business is important. New start-up companies almost all end in failure. So while you may make more money by getting in early, consider it to be a very, very high risk venture. You could work hard, spend a lot of money and see your business go down the drain.

3. What kind of products or service will you represent? While you may prefer to keep your business as an internet business and not bother your friends, still...what you represent should be something you would gladly share with your family and friends.

4. Is there a workable plan or system to help you succeed? Believe me, folks will not beat a path to your door to sign up for your business or buy your product! You’ve got to let them know you are there...over & over again! So, the more support and help you are offered, the more likely that it will be a successful business for you.

Be aware, however, that the list above does not guarantee that your business will still be around at payday. I believe, however, those points do help put the odds in your favor.

So friends, take the time to do your homework and once you do find the right business for you, be willing to work at it to make a success. Don’t let the greed bug cause you to fail!

Your Home Business Can Succeed By Avoiding The “Later Syndrome"?

It usually sickens me when I see people fail in their home business just because of one problem.

Many home business people are discouraged from trying to learn new knowledge or skills that will take their businesses to a new level because of time issues. They already feel that their lives are too busy and they don't see how it is possible to fit more commitments into their already jammed schedules. Other home business entrepreneurs take an overly laid-back approach to business adventure. They sign themselves up for marketing forums and affiliate programs and then don't take those forums and programs seriously. At the end of the month or year they wonder why their business, income and lives has not improved!

This is as a result of the problem of the “later “syndrome. (Never do today what you can put off for tomorrow. Better yet, never put off 'til tomorrow what you can avoid altogether! ) The later syndrome is a very big hindrance to many home businesses. Does your home business also suffer from this syndrome?
What is the later syndrome anyway? This is where by a home business owner puts off what he/she should have done today, for a later time. Simply put, the “later” syndrome is “procrastination”. Other people prefer to call it the “tomorrow syndrome” Procrastination can manifest itself in ways as simple as taking too long to write an ezine ad, putting off article submission or letting slide the date when you promised yourself you'd start an advertising campaign.
The later syndrome in our home businesses is something we can be aware of and deal with over time. Procrastination is so lethal to your home business. You should avoid it. The future of your home business depends on you, just the same as with an athlete, an actor or anyone else who depends on peak personal performance to make a living.
That's why everyone who wants to be successful in their home businesses has to take steps to deal with the ” later syndrome” if and when it appears.
How do you deal with the “later” syndrome?

Try to ensure that you be disciplined. If you have scheduled a task to be done today, do it. Do not put it off for a later date or time. In other words, improve your time management skills.

Just remember that success in home business is a result of simple disciplines performed every day. Such simple disciplines include sticking to your work shedule no matter what. For example, if you are supposed to write an article for submission today, write it. Do not give room to any excuses that may tempt you to write it later.

Failure in any home business is a result of cumulative errors in judgment and decision repeated every day. Such simple errors include procrastination (Also known as the “later” syndrome.

Another technique is to create an environment where you can fully concentrate on your work. Not all people can concentrate in a noisy and chaotic environment. So have a well designated home business office with a conducive environment favorable for concentration.

So, if you think you need success in your home business, you should steer away from the “later” syndrome. In summary, you can fight the later syndrome in your home business by following these points.
· Make a list of what needs to get done. This can be listed in no particular order and will give you a handle on just what you need to accomplish.
· Prioritise these. My way of doing this is by deadlines. I arrange them in order of when they are due. You may also choose to rank them by how important it is to get them done. For example, writing an article and submitting it to article directories on time may be more important to your home business than replying to your friends email. Do that first.
· Get yourself a calendar with room to write notes in. I personally use a bound notebook and write in dates as I go. I make pages with dates for long-term planning and also keep a separate list that I transfer my short-term goals to.
· Take what's at the top of your priority list and determine how long it will take to accomplish it. If it's a quick task, put that down to be done the current day. If it will take a longer time, divide it into smaller tasks to be spread out over several days. Write this in your calendar with specific dates for accomplishing each. Include your deadline for completion of this task on your calendar as well.
· Keep filling your calendar until you have a time set aside to do each item while still meeting your deadlines. Be careful to not overbook yourself and allow plenty of time for delays. This will allow you to feel confident that you can accomplish all you need to in the time you have. Now you can relax and work on one item at a time without feeling you have to do it all at once.

The Power of Testimonials for the Home-Based Business Owner

Including testimonials on your web site and in your marketing material is a great way to establish trust with your potential customers and boost your credibility.

Giving a testimonial to someone else is also a good way of building your business, and getting visitors to your site.

When a potential buyer is considering whether or not to buy from you, testimonials may reassure her. Use testimonials on the back of your business card, in your brochures, web site, letters, e-mail, and so on.

Include the name of the person providing the testimonial, otherwise people might think you just made it up. Also, print the provider's full name, company name, and city, state/province, country, etc.

Provide links to their web sites and if you can get a picture of them, even better.

Testimonials like the one below will do very little to add credibility or believability to your business ...

"Thanks to your help in getting clear on my goals, I am moving forward much quicker than I was before we started working together. - J.S., New Zealand"

Not only is the testimonial void of any significant content, it's very difficult to accept the provider as being real. There's no way for us to confirm he or she even exists.

Here's a testimonial I received a week after promoting a new book. Notice how it is detailed and provides full info on the provider so you can verify that yes, she is a real live person and a trustworthy source. (Personalization has been removed for the purposes of this article.)

"I've been a subscriber to your ezine for over a year and love the information and ideas you provide.

I wanted to thank you for sharing special products and offers and to let you know that as a result of a promotion you sent out, I won an 8-month coaching certification program valued at $6,000! - What an incredible gift!

I'm already a Professional Certified Coach and run a full-time business from home, and I'm the first to acknowledge there's so much in the world of coaching to learn. I am thrilled at this opportunity and thank you for creating it for me!

Writer's Name, Occupation, Country
Company name
Company website address
Picture of writer "

I posted the complete testimonial on the newsletter sign up page of my web site. Do you see how this will add credibility to the benefits this ezine provides?

If you're just starting out and don't have any professional testimonials under your belt, get personal ones.

When I first began as a Life Strategy Coach, I asked friends and acquaintances for testimonials. What their testimonials did was add to my likeability and trust factor, and helped portray who I am as a person.

When a prospective client is looking for a coach, one of the first things they're looking for is someone they can connect to, someone they're attracted to through certain characteristics, energy, etc.

Even though I since transitioned to coaching entrepreneurs to build thriving home-based businesses, the forming of our relationship isn't only about results. It still boils down to chemistry, how well we connect, trust and likeability.

Achieving results is paramount, but as a client or customer, you need to feel closeness and trust with the person you hire. The personal testimonials I collected helped create that trust in the beginning, then the professional testimonials I collected in the years following, provided the additional credibility.

As you begin to promote yourself, start asking friends, acquaintances, co-workers, whomever you can think of who can provide a testimonial that will portray your strengths, skills and character.

Ask their permission to provide their full name, town, state/province and a picture for added integrity.

As your business grows and you gain satisfied customers, ask every single one of them for testimonials and include them in your marketing materials.

This one practice alone will pack a powerful punch in your business building efforts.

Yoga for Business People: Do Not Get Distracted From your Goal

Suresh Nigam, chairman of MetJet, one of the leading trainers of computer hardware engineers in India, not only practices yoga but preaches it at his 35 centers.

So what is it and how does it work.

At the heart of it is something which translates as the stoppage of mind modification. For example when we hear music we get distracted. We must stay aware and conscious but not get distracted from our goal.

How then does yoga, an ancient, essentially private activity, help in the work environment.

Suresh believes that the collective is an entity just as much as an individual is. If individuals are happy, calm and alert then the collective consciousness is harmonious and dynamic and will produce better results. If people are tense and unhappy it will reflect in their productivity.

At MetJet all managers and employees are sent to the Yoga Institute at Santa Cruz (in Mumbai) which was founded in 1989. There people are shown a path, how to control your mind and not to run after sensual pleasures. You learn not to run away from your responsibilities.

The root cause of these afflictions is ignorance. That leads to a grandiose sense of self-importance and misunderstanding. We love and hate in extremes. By getting up and finding out what is happening, we reduce stress. Once you are aware of what is going on you have won half the battle.

Will Your Business Idea Work ?

Consider this a homework assignment for a would-be entrepreneur. How well you do determines whether your business succeeds or fails.

The assignment is a research project. You're going to research the validity of your business plan. I'm going to show you how to do adequate research before starting a business.

It can be difficult to gauge what "adequate" really means. Here's a checklist of some elements that any sufficient business research will contain:

Market Research

It may be surprising, but many entrepreneurs start a business without really understanding the market they plan to serve. You must know the potential size of your market and, in turn, what sort of response your service or product will attract:

Demographic Data

Don't try and sell something unless you know the buyers have money to spend. Know the numbers behind your market, including income levels, age breakdowns and if your target market is growing or shrinking. Sources of demographic information may include various governmental or taxing authorities and, on a more local level, voter rolls (invaluable if you want information on the ages of your market target).

Customer feedback

An equally important element of market research is getting a personal sense of your customers. Ask what they genuinely value, no matter if it's a low price, customer support or a particular element of your product or service. If you're gearing up a new business or modifying an existing product, ask if your business can solve some sort of ongoing problem."It's really effective research to identify problems that aren't being solved," says Peter Meyer, author of "Creating and Dominating New Markets." "Do interviews on a regular basis and, if someone isn't a customer, ask them why not. What product could you offer to make them a customer or what problem could you solve to achieve the same goal?"

Competition

A third element of market research is knowing who you're up against. Rest assured you will be competing with someone, so never assume that you're the only company to have spotted an opportunity.. On-site research is particularly helpful. Observe customer traffic patterns, noting ebbs and flows in both the number of customers and what they are buying. If it's a retail outlet, try shopping there yourself.

Other research options include visiting a competitor's website. If a competitor happens to be a public company, you can obtain every piece of literature that a publicly held firm must provide. Finally, while it's tempting to focus on a competitor's weak spots, pay close attention to what they do well. "Understand how they make their money," says David Gumpert, author of "How to Really Start Your Own Business." "Don't just look at what they screw up; find out how they're able to stay in business."

Pricing

An ancillary element to market research is doing work to decide what you're going to charge customers. It's important to gain a feel for going rates to remain competitive. Pricing competitors' services and data from trade and professional associations is exceedingly helpful. But, says Meyer, pay attention to every element that contributes to your eventual prices or fees. "Price really is more of a marketing tool than it is a vehicle for cost recovery," he says. "People will pay more for a high value product or solution, so be sure to research your total value."

Location

This is particularly critical for retail operations. Ask any prospective landlord if they have a foot traffic analysis on hand. First-hand observation is always a good option; examine walk-in traffic, parking spaces and other nearby businesses that may help or hinder your customer flow. Don't thoroughly dismiss the issue of location if you're not selling jewellery or clothes. A conveniently located office at a prestigious address can be a boon to a start-up consulting firm. Review any available buying data and trends for people who live in that area.

Research Your Costs

Knowing your expenses is essential in estimating how much you'll need to bring in to stay in business. Research prospective costs thoroughly. Include everything from salaries to rent. For at least the first year or two, break down those costs in three-month increments. And, adds Gumpert, it actually helps to be a bit macabre when forecasting expenses: "Things are probably going to cost more than you expect, just like it's probably going to take longer to land your first client than you anticipate."

What's Enough?

Although sufficient research is vital to the growth and success of any business, there is a point where enough becomes too much. Don't become so mired in research that you end up with too much information to make a decision. Watch to see how your research is borne out in reality. If, for instance, you're hitting your income goals or matching what you expected in walk-in traffic, your research is on the mark. And, adds Meyer, take note of repetition: "If you're asking questions and you keep getting the same answers over and over, you know you're in the right place."
